WHAT IS A TRANSMITTER? A transmitter is one of the most important devices in industrial automation. It converts a physical process variable such as pressure, temperature, level, or flow into a standard electrical signal (typically 4–20 mA) that can be monitored and controlled by PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems. Common Types of Transmitters: Pressure Transmitter Differential Pressure (DP) Transmitter Temperature Transmitter Level Transmitter Flow Transmitter Coriolis Flow Meter Vortex Flow Meter Applications: Process Control Industrial Automation Safety & Monitoring Oil & Gas Plants Power Plants Water Treatment Facilities Chemical & Petrochemical Industries Understanding transmitters is a fundamental skill for every Instrumentation, Electrical, and Automation Engineer.
