🔌 CAT6 Straight Cable vs CAT6 Cross Cable – Do You Know the Difference?

Many students and engineers get confused about when to use a straight-through cable and when to use a cross-over cable. This infographic makes it simple by showing the wiring sequence, pin configuration, and common applications of both cable types.

A Straight Cable uses the same wiring standard (T568A–T568A or T568B–T568B) on both ends and is commonly used to connect PC to Switch, Router to Switch, or Modem to Router.

A Cross Cable uses T568A on one end and T568B on the other, allowing transmit and receive pairs to cross. It is traditionally used for PC to PC or Switch to Switch connections without auto MDI-X support.

Understanding these wiring standards is essential for networking, PLC communication, industrial Ethernet, SCADA systems, and automation projects.
